Day-3 in Ilocos (The Finale)

October 20th, 2010
(This is the last day of our Ilocos Trip – September 24-27, 2010.)

Bell Tower
Our last day started in Bantay Ilocos Sur, where we visited the Bell Tower of Saint Augustine Church.

Our first destination on our third and final day in Ilocos was the Bell Tower of St Augustine Church in Bantay, Ilocos Sur.

Dormboy in Bell Tower in Bantay, Ilocos. Proud to be Pinoy!

Isang group picture muna in front of the Bell Church in Bantay, Ilocos Sur.

This shot was taken inside the Bell Tower.

The parish of Bantay, Ilocos Sur was established in 1591. The parish’s patron saint is St. Augustine of Hippo, the Doctor of Grace. The feast day of Nuestra Senora de la Caridad is celebrated on the second Sunday of January in commemoration of the canonical coronation of the image.

A minute of silence inside the Augustine Church. We included the Visita Iglesia in our Ilocos trip.

Baluarte

Baluarte was our next destination before lunch time.

Group shot muna before gumala sa Baluarte

It was my first time to hold a snake like this way.

It was also my first time to touch a tiger. Pswewewe!!! Come little pussy! (lol!)

Old Houses in Vigan

Parang travel back in the past ulit ang pakiramdam. Looking at the marvels of the Spanish time dun ko napagtanto ang deep influence ng mga Spaniards sa Ilocos.

Ang sweet ng mag-asawa naming kasama! Rock n roll Mami R and Dadi A.

Meet the Ladies: Ms. W, Mami A, Tita J and Bully G.

Syempre meet the hunks naman: Marami kami so girls pili na lang kayo... lol!!!

Claypot Making Industy of Ilocos

Clay pot making in Ilocos. It was my first time to see making clay pots.

This is the final result. Naglaeng ni manong!

Vigan the old City

People said that Vigan was already a city in the past. Pero lately lang syang ginawang city in the modern times.

The church in Vigan. Another Visita Iglesia in Ilocos.

The Tower of the Church in Vigan.

Welcome to Abra

Sumaglit din muna kami sa Abra, the town of my best buddy in college and still a co-worker (tagal na ng pinagsamahan natin men!), si KJ. After long years and numerous invite finally nakapasyal na rin ako sa inyo.

Welcome to Abra. Isang masayang Jumpshot ulit near the famous tunnel approaching the entrance to Abra. Dito shinoot ang Pong Kalabaw commercial ng Coke noon (college days if I am not mistaken). Arya Abra!!!

Before going straight sa bahay ni KJ, drop-by muna kami ng Victoria Park sa Bangued Abra. Nice view above.

He is so blessed having a great family. Sakto pa Fa-mealy day ang Sept 27, so our dinner was a celebration of love, friendship and oneness of a family. You made our stay in Abra so much unforgettable.

Agyaman kami!

Our Ilocos escapade approached its final stage. Isang masayang paglalakbay, baon-baon namin ang magagandang alaala, samutsaring kwento, masasarap na pagkain at magagandang tanawin. Truly, Ilocos is rich and a pride of our country!

Balik Manila na kami. Prepare for another long trip!!!

Agyamanak,

Dorm Boy

Food Trip in Ilocos

October 19th, 2010
(This time food trip naman from our Ilocos Vacation- September 24- 27, 2010)

Roll the drums please… Heto sila:

Pinakbet, Dinuguan and Bagnet Pizza

Herencia’s Cafe  is the home of Pinakbet Pizza in Ilocos. It is located in front of Paoay Church so we too the chance to visit the cafe.
Ang Pinakbet Pizza- Fresh na fresh all the way from oven. Original pizza and only in Pinas!

Syempre hindi rin namin pinalampas ang other flavor: the Bagnet Flavor and the Dinuguan Flavor. Among the two, the best para sa akin ang Dinuguan Pizza!!!

I learned about these pizza in one of the episodes in Jessica Soho. Buti na lang di namin pinalampas ang pagkakataon to taste the special pizzas in Ilocos. Yummy much!!!

Empanada ng Batac

Minutes after staying in Paoay, heto upon arrival in Batac, Ilocos Norter diretso na kami sa tindahan ng mga empanada. Batac offers the best empanada in town. (Exagg…)

Ilocos is also known for the best empanada. The empanada of Batac is made of Rice Flour (the orange color). Pinaflat sya gamit ang maliit na bamboo.

Pagtapos... ilalagay ang itlog at mongo sprout...

Longganisa ng Ilocos is also added tapos kunting asin.

Lol!

Deep fry ang pagkakaluto ng Empanada. Alam nyo ba na ang empanada ng Batac is also for export.

We also tried the Empanada of Vigan. There is a huge difference between the empanada of Batac and the one made in Vigan especially in the taste and in the ingredients. For me mas masarap pa rin ang Empanada ng Batac. I guess kasi sobrang gutom lang ako that time (lol!).

Buti na lang we only stayed for 3 days, kung hindi tataba ako sa Ilocos. Ang sarap magfood trip sa Ilocos. The best talaga!

More to come…
